We created Ruff Food Bites to deliver the same powerhouse formula as our Ruff Food Bars—just in a mess-free, bite-sized format that’s easy to scoop, serve, sprinkle or use as a treat. Whether you’re feeding at home, topping a bowl, or packing light for an adventure, Ruff Food Bites are ready whenever you are.
Crafted from real, nutrient-dense ingredients with no fillers, these bites are made from grass-fed beef, organ meats, and a blend of veggies—then freeze-dried or air-dried to lock in flavor and nutritional value without preservatives or excess moisture.
Inspired by Oakley, my daughter’s Type 1 Diabetic service dog, Ruff Food was originally developed in 2018 with the help of our holistic vet to fuel long backpacking trips. Today, these same recipes continue to support not only active dogs but also seniors and those with special dietary needs—including dogs battling cancer or chronic illness.
And because our family dog Frodo has a very sensitive digestive system and can’t tolerate raw food, we made some changes: we cut our Ruff Food Bars into smaller pieces and freeze-dried them to create Ruff Food Bites—a shelf-stable, easy-to-digest solution for dogs like Frodo.
Why it works:
✔️ 85% pasture-raised meat
✔️ 10% nutrient-rich organs
✔️ 5% produce + food-based vitamins & minerals
✔️ Freeze-dried & air-dried for shelf stability and maximum nutrients
✔️ No fillers, preservatives, or by-products
Available in Beef & Bison/Beef recipes
Feeding Guidelines:
Feed 2–3% of your dog’s ideal body weight per day. For freeze-dried or air-dried food, this equals about 35% of a raw diet by weight.
Example: A 30 lb dog typically needs ~10–15 oz of raw food daily = 3.5–5 oz of freeze-dried or air-dried food.
Adjust based on age, activity level, and condition.
Did You Know?
Air-dried and freeze-dried foods have a recovery rate of 19–35%—meaning you’re getting real, concentrated nutrition without the water weight.
Tested by couch cuddlers, city dogs, and serious trail hounds.

My dogs absolutely loved these! As an owner of 2 dogs, I LOVE that there are 2 bars per package. But my dogs enjoyed the bars and licking the wrapper afterwards. 😉 Also great customer service and we always appreciate a PNW company! ❤️
I am so happy to find Ruff Bar and have it be such high-quality meat. I love it's grass-fed, wild-caught, no antibiotics and all the good stuff. The ingredient list is simple and I actually know what's in it. Finally a treat I can feed my pup without thinking it's some crap, overcooked, bad for you cookie. When we go hiking, backpacking or on the boat these are the easiest to toss in your bag for a snack. He's a never stops kind of dog and I worry about him pushing too hard. This way I am happy and is happy he gets a treat and he can keep playing. THANK YOU for making such a high-quality treat!!!!!
We have three Great Danes and an Alaskan Malamute who I hike and travel with multiple times a week. These bars are absolutely a staple in our routine for healthy, post hike protein snacks! The ingredients are unbeatable, I love the size of the bars, especially great for my big dogs. If I am on a solo hike with a pup or two, I just put the other half in the fridge for a few days until our next hike - no waste! I always joke that these look so good and are so healthy I wish I could eat them 😂 anyways, highly recommend these! Our pups are OBSESSED
My dog loves most treats, but he absolutely goes the craziest for ruff bars. I have to watch my fingers because he is very very eager to get it in his mouth asap!
Ruff Bar is my go to adventure treat when I’m out exploring with my dogs! I love how healthy and natural the bars are! I also love how versatile the bars are, I use them for training or just because my dogs are good puppies and go crazy for the taste!
My two dogs are large, active dogs and I want to do everything I can to keep them healthy for as long as I can. That is why I purchased the powder form of the Flex Joint Support. It's easy to sprinkle in their food. I also have started mixing it into their bone broth and making frozen treats, so they also keep hydrated in the warmer weather days.

The biys absolutely love Ruff Food, and I couldn’t be happier! What I really appreciate is how easy it is to take with us wherever we go. The freeze-dried format means no mess, no fuss, and it’s super lightweight, making it perfect for hikes, road trips, or just busy days out and about.
