A Limp That Wouldn't Go Away
This is my story of a pup limp that wouldn’t go away. Don't worry, it has a happy ending!
Chancellor is a 4 year old fox red lab. He is very active and constantly moving, running, shredding, fetching, searching or playing. Chancellor plays HARD!
Every once in a while he would tweak an ankle. We could tell because he would either let out a whimper or favor it when he walked. But when he did, we’d just take it easy for a few days, leashed walks, no fetch, and he’d been fine.
About two months ago, he hurt his ankle and couldn’t shake it. We took it easy for a few days, like we usually do, but as soon as we started playing, he would let out a tiny cry and come back for love. He's done this since he was a puppy. When something hurts he puts his head and tail down and comes back for comfort before he tears off and starts playing again. So I knew it wasn’t getting better. We couldn't find a pattern, something he was doing, a way he was turning or any type of consistent time or reason he would have it hurt.
We went to the vet and didn't get any answers. "Joint injuries are common in labs as they get older." They couldn't find anything definitive either, guessed it was tendinitis and said it's most likely some thing we just have to deal with. I did not want him to be in pain his whole life, and he's only four!
I've gotten to know Sue over the years and I was completely out of ideas so I reached out. She was so caring and knowledgable. She recommended a few supplements to try and explained what they would do for him. My first choice is always a natural option over medication and don't want to give Chancellor anything that could harm him or have side effects unless there was no choice.

I realize he is a lab, but I added them to his food and he ate them straight away. After a couple weeks, we started trying to play slow and then more and more. The limping was gone!
